Ashwani Saihgpaul was born and raised in Punjab, India, where he mastered his craft in traditional
Indian cuisines and hospitality. After the passing of his father, Ashwani had the duty to support his five
siblings and mother although he experienced hardship and obstacles. As more responsibilities grew,
Ashwani decided to immigrate to Canada and find a living by working at a restaurant to send money
back home to his family. Soon after, Ashwani went back to his home country to marry Vijayluxmi.
Ashwani returned to Canada with the support of his wife, mother, and sister in 2000. Ashwani and
Vijaluxmi worked together towards taking a big step in their journey, which was the establishment of
their very own restaurant. In 2002, the first Rajdhani Sweets and Restaurant branch opened on Albion and
Islington Avenue. From there on Ashwani handles all the cooking and sweet preparations, while
Vijayluxmi operates the flow and management of the business. Over time, Rajdhani Sweets &
Restaurant has opened and will continue opening multiple chains of franchises serving customers the
best service and quality food that they deserve. As time went by, Ashwani and Vijayluxmi still operate
the business with love, hard work, teamwork, and dedication.
